This crazy, crazy, crazy world! What does the word road mean to us? The place where cars and other means of transportation go, people walk, and so on. As they say, no romance. But for the people of the future, the road is a kind of meaning of life. Some make money on it, others accordingly rob (although in many cases it is the same), but Max catches (and most often kills) criminals on it. He's like a cop in the world. But when he, one day, kills one of the members of the gang, the bikers, a member of the gang of which was this man, begin to hunt him, and his family, friends and colleagues. Can this film be called a dystopia? Probably not. Don't drip so deep. It is better not to go into the details of the film, but just enjoy it. But this is where the problems come in.
Well, if you take the script, the film in its very beginning is not particularly attractive. Well, Max drives his mentomobile, wets criminals, loves his wife and son. In general, a sociable, cheerful young man. But the campaign of the film, and especially towards the end, he turns into just the mad Max, as in the title of the film. How does that happen? Quite abruptly. I think it means that George Miller wanted to show how changeable the human soul is, and that there is a monster in every human being, even in the quiet and good-natured. And even the fact that it's all about revenge doesn't excuse Max. Although, as they say, revenge is sweet, but is anyone allowed to carry it out?
One of the first roles of Mel Gibson in the movie. He was unknown at the time, so he was probably filmed in Australia. What can I say? One of his best roles. In the first half, nothing special. An ordinary, standard cop, which Stallone could play, then in the second, especially when he turns into a mad Max. That's great. Of course, it’s not Dustin Hoffman in Straw Dogs, but there was a different genre, and the situation is different than here, but still. Well, I won't say anything about the rest, because the roles were mostly inconspicuous.
Summing up the results of the film, I will say that this is quite a medium-sized action movie, not much different from the others, but with a powerful, though sometimes predictable, but, nevertheless, interesting outcome.
And here's what I wanted to say. Some of the scenes of the chase were so spectacular that it sometimes seemed that Tarantino was inspired by this film when he shot his Proof of Death.
